Based on the standard issue military pants for the United States Navy during the early 1940’s, these trousers are a great interpretation of classic heritage design. They are a loose fitting denim trouser with a high rise and simplistic, sturdy construction. With double felled seams on each side, no back yoke, and simple back patch pockets, this trouser stays true to its 1940s specifications. The button plate has a nice little selvedge detail on the inside and it is easy to see and feel the quality of this mid-weight, rinsed denim. Rumour has it that the reason these trousers were cut so wide was that the could be easily taken off in a hurry if a sailor needed to jump overboard. Anyway, if that is the reason then we are glad that it gave birth to such an iconic trouser shape, and a style which has endured for almost eighty years.
